Gary Lacher
Gary Lacher has virtually spent his life collecting and conserving films. Beginning as a youngster in St.Paul, MN, Gary has amassed a large library of historic films, much of it donated to The American Film Institute, UCLA, The Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Library of Congress. At Arizona State University he administered a film series introducing students to rare and unique films. Working as a television photojournalist for over 33 years he covered many historic events, many seen on national networks during the 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s. Never having lost the love for film, Gary now has now been pursuing another untapped element of film history, silent film music. This is as important as the films themselves, he says, and the Famous Players Orchestra will have an opportunity to bring the music back to life for everyone to hear.
